Pavement work continues on SR 51

Northbound SR 51 will be closed in central Phoenix between Glendale Avenue and Shea Boulevard from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for surface asphalt removal as part of a pavement improvement project.

Northbound SR 51 on ramps at Indian School Road, Colter Street and Bethany Home Road also will be closed.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends northbound I-17 as an alternative freeway route.

Drivers can avoid the northbound SR 51 closure by taking northbound Seventh Street to northbound Cave Creek Road, then eastbound Cactus Road to reenter the freeway.

Westbound Loop 202 closure planned in Gilbert

The westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will be closed at Gilbert Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

Westbound Loop 202 on-ramps at SanTan Village Parkway, Val Vista Drive and Lindsay Road also will be closed.

Traffic will be detoured at Gilbert Road. Alternative routes include westbound Williams Field, Pecos and Germann roads.

Loop 101 narrowed in north Scottsdale

Meanwhile, the southbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be narrowed to two lanes between Princess Drive and Shea Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement improvements.

Drivers should allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes, including southbound SR 51.

Overnight US 60 closure scheduled in the East Valley

In the East Valley, westbound US 60 will be closed overnight between Tomahawk and Crismon roads from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday for pavement sealing.

Drivers can use westbound Southern Avenue or Baseline Road as alternative routes.

Westbound US 60 also will be narrowed to one lane overnight between Mountain View and Tomahawk roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday and again from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
