New transitional housing shelter opens in Mesa

PHOENIX — A new housing shelter has opened in Mesa in an effort to help families experiencing homelessness.

The Mesa House is a new shelter run by Family Promise of Greater Phoenix, a Valley organization that helps children, parents and pets.

The new shelter, which opened in November 2025, is designed to provide emergency shelter and permanent housing to families experiencing homelessness, according to a news release.

“While we have helped families for a long time through our emergency shelter program in partnership with Valley congregations, we’ve found that there is a gap that needs to be filled to get families from homelessness to self-sufficiency,” CEO Ted Taylor said. 

The new facility will offer accommodations to up to 60 families per year with a maximum stay of up to 90 days. Each family at the shelter will receive benefits, including case management, employment help, financial training and help toward finding housing.
