East Valley brewery to sell convenience store items like cigarettes, toothpaste and more

PHOENIX — After nearly a decade of serving ales, lagers and IPAs in downtown Mesa, one brewery will now also be selling energy drinks, toothpaste and more.

Oro Brewing Company, located near Main Street and Robson, will be rebranding to Oro Brewing & Vice Company and will expand to become a bodega as well as a brewery.

The move is being made to help people in downtown Mesa have access to convenience store staples, as the nearest store is nearly a mile away at Main Street and Alma School Road.

“We’ve always been about great beer and community, but this next chapter fills a gap we’ve seen in downtown Mesa for a long time,” Oro Brewing Company Owner Dave Valencia said in a press release. “This rebrand is about fulfilling a need in the community.”  

Grand opening celebration for new bodega

To celebrate the grand reopening, the brewery will host a celebration on Friday from 3 p.m. to midnight.

There will be a ribbon cutting for the bodega, a hot dog cart and a DJ at the celebration.

Inside, guests will be able to order the brewery’s full selection of beers and play a game of pool.

The selection of convenience store items will be stocked behind the bar, according to a Facebook post from the brewery.
