A one-year-old is in critical condition after being found unresponsive in a bathtub on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

PHOENIX– A one-year-old is in critical condition after being found unresponsive in a bathtub on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident took place at a motel near Interstate 17 and Bell Road in north Phoenix.

First responders began life-saving measures before the child was taken in “extremely critical condition” to the hospital, according to Phoenix Fire Department.

Phoenix Fire said that, according to the family on scene, the child was found unresponsive in the bathtub after being left unattended for an unknown period of time.

Phoenix Police Department has taken over the investigation.
