Police seeking suspect in north Phoenix shooting that left 1 dead, another hospitalized

PHOENIX — One person was left dead and another with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in north Phoenix on Saturday evening, authorities said.

Phoenix police responded to the area of 22nd Avenue and Thunderbird Road around 3:30 p.m. for a shooting that involved two victims.

One of the two adults was pronounced dead on the scene while the other was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. The deceased victim was identified on Sunday as 27-year-old Michael Tusa, the Phoenix Police Department said.

Thunderbird Road was closed on Saturday for investigation.

Police determined that Tusa was shot under the Thunderbird overpass.

Homicide detectives took over the scene and are actively seeking out the suspect.
