Home improvement giant Home Depot opens its westernmost Valley location

PHOENIX — Home Depot, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, opened its westernmost Valley location on Thursday.

The new store is located at 16601 Cactus Road in Surprise, just east of Loop 303.

It spans 136,107 square feet, including 28,216 square feet for a garden center.

The company purchased the 18-acre property last year for $8.4 million, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. It is next to a development called Sycamore Farms that will feature a Fry’s and EoS Fitness, the media outlet reported.

New Home Depot is still hiring

The new location, the second in Surprise, expects to create an estimated 150 jobs and is still hiring. Home Depot said it already supports over 70,000 jobs across Arizona.

The home improvement giant offers its employees training in essential trade skills through its Path to Pro program.

The Surprise store is one of 13 the company is planning to open in 2025, according to a Feb. 25 earnings call.
