PHOENIX – Police are trying to find the person who shot two teenagers, killing one, in west Phoenix on Sunday night.

Officers responded to a report of two people being shot near 67th Avenue and Thomas Road in the Maryvale neighborhood around 11:30 p.m., the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

A 16-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition and later died of her injuries, police said. The other victim, an 18-year-old man, was hospitalized with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.

Police said the two were in a vehicle when they were shot.

Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting and who pulled the trigger.

Anybody with information about the case was asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish.

We want to hear from you.
