A person was injured after an allegedly impaired driver crashed into their home in Gilbert while fleeing a traffic stop early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The Gilbert Police Department identified the driver as 21-year-old Gannon Dodge. He was booked into jail on aggravated assault, endangerment, reckless driving, DUI and extreme DUI charges.
Officers saw a pickup truck driving recklessly in Gilbert’s Downtown District near Elliot and Gilbert roads just after 1:30 a.m. They also witnessed the truck do a burnout near Guadalupe and Gilbert roads.
When officers attempted a traffic stop, Dodge fled eastbound at a high rate of speed, police said.
Dodge attempted to turn at Burk Street and crashed into a home, leaving a 45-year-old resident with minor injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital by fire personnel.
Dodge was arrested and two others were detained.
Authorities believe speed and impairment are both factors in the crash.
