2 indicted after allegedly transporting $2M in fentanyl in Arizona

PHOENIX — Two people accused of transporting at least $2 million in fentanyl and other drugs in Arizona have been indicted.

Maria Gallardo and Marco Neri were indicted on seven counts that included transporting fentanyl, heroin and cocaine, the Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday.

On Aug. 9, the two were pulled over for a traffic stop on the Loop 202. After a search warrant was served, police found 400,000 fentanyl pills, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

Police also found one kilogram of fentanyl powder, 20 kilograms of cocaine, and one kilogram of heroin, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

Gallardo and Neri allegedly participated in a racketeering enterprise from around April 15 through Aug. 9, according to court documents.

The documents allege that the two transported heroin on April 15 and moved heroin, fentanyl and cocaine on Aug. 9.

The suspects were indicted by the State Grand Jury on Aug. 17.

They have been indicted with two counts of transportation of a narcotic drug for sale, one count of transportation of a narcotic drug for sale, one count of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, one count of illegally conducting an enterprise, and one count of conspiracy.
