PHOENIX – The second season of the Arizona Speaker Series quickly sold out after a lineup including Bill Nye “The Science Guy,” former White House Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly and comedian Jay Leno was revealed Monday.
“It’s some of the most recognizable political leaders, people who could speak to world affairs, people from science, the world of entertainment, journalism,” Gary Lauer, co-founder and host, told KTAR News 92.3 FM.
“We try to have as much diversity as we possibly can.”
Many of the tickets, which are sold only by full-season subscription, were gobbled up by people who subscribed to the inaugural season.
“Close to 90 percent of the people who subscribed last season have come in again this season, so it’s something people really enjoy,” Lauer said.
The series is compiling an online waiting list in case seats become available.
The shows at Comerica Theatre in downtown Phoenix aren’t recorded or broadcast, making them unique experiences for those in attendance.
