PHOENIX — Part of Interstate 10 will be closed over the weekend for construction on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Eastbound I-10 between 67th and 51st avenues will be closed from Friday 9 p.m. to Monday 4 a.m.
Eastbound on-ramps at 91st, 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues; the eastbound I-10 access road between 67th and 51st avenues; and 59th Avenue between Roosevelt Street and the I-10 overpass will also be closed.
Drivers can take Loop 101 west of Interstate 17 or local streets to avoid delays.

During the closure, two cranes will set 12 concrete beams over I-10 that will support one of the bridges connecting the interstate to the South Mountain Freeway.
The 22-mile stretch of highway, which is scheduled to open in late 2019, will provide a new connection for motorists traveling between the East Valley and West Valley that bypasses downtown Phoenix.
The agency said drivers can expect more frequent I-10 closures in the next several months as the project moves toward completion.
