PHOENIX — If you are planning to drive through north Scottsdale this week, you might want to take an alternate route.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said drivers should plan for heavier-than-normal traffic on the Loop 101 starting Wednesday due to the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
The heavy traffic is expected to last through Sunday, the final day of the weeklong tournament.
Traffic is expected to be heaviest around Hayden Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard/Bell Road during the early morning and late evening hours.
A majority of events begin around 8:30 a.m. or 9 a.m. each day, but the first and second Phoenix Open rounds begin at 7:30 a.m. Thursday and Friday.
Gates for the Coors Light Birds Nest concert series will open at 3:30 p.m. each day and will remain open until the performances end around 10 p.m.
