Severe weather with dust, rain rolls into Valley Sunday night

The National Weather Service issued multiple severe weather warnings for different parts of the Valley Sunday night.

A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for Phoenix, Glendale and Peoria until 9:15 p.m., and multiple dust storm warnings were issued.

Parts of north Phoenix had already received more than a quarter-inch of rain by 8:30 p.m. A severe thunderstorm with very strong winds developed in the area of the Phoenix Mountains along and just east of I-17, NWS said.

A flash flood warning covering parts of Maricopa and Pinal counties was also issued, expected through 12:45 a.m.

The dust storm warnings were issued for parts of Maricopa and Pinal counties until 9 p.m., expected to affect Interstate 8 near Bosque, Gila Bend, Stanfield and Theba.

A dust wall formed south of I-8 in Pinal and southern Maricopa counties that could make its way into the Phoenix area around 9 p.m., according to NWS. The dust wall is moving northwest.
