Dust advisory issued as high winds make way into Valley

An outflow boundary brought high winds to the Valley on Monday night, causing weather officials to issue a dust advisory.

The boundary was making its way northwest into the Phoenix metro around 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service for Phoenix.

However, NWS meteorologist Katherine Berislavich told KTAR News 92.3 FM the boundary didn’t enter parts of the East Valley until around 9:45 p.m.

The dust advisory was in place for east and southern parts of Maricopa County until 11:30 p.m. It warned of more than 40 mph winds and less than a mile of visibility.

The weather authority added that a wall of dust could be seen on Arizona Department of Transportation cameras on State Route 347 south of the Valley around 10 p.m.
