It’s not news that Arizona could always use another source of income — especially with all these Senate Bill 1062 threats flying around — but is a simple solution to money problems a bong hit away?

According to Fox News, Colorado’s marijuana sales nearly hit $1 million in January, with more than $130,000 to be shared between Pueblo County and the state in taxes.

Pueblo County Clerk Gilbert “Bo” Ortiz says the tax revenue from marijuana is greatly appreciated by county officials.

“The county will be using it for a number of issues. Our revenue isn’t exceeding expenditures, so hopefully it will go to shore up the challenges,” says Ortiz.

Should the high level of sales continue, Pueblo County is on pace to collect about $670,000 in taxes this year alone. That’s with only four retailers open. The county expects 10 more to open this year.

Arizonans may be torn on the issues surrounding marijuana, but one thing is for sure: It’s a sure bet to make some of that green.
