PHOENIX — Break out the blankets. A cold front moving into metro Phoenix is expected to push temperatures well below normal in the coming days.
“Definitely cooler temperatures this weekend … just no rain from it,” Katherine Berislavich, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Friday morning.
Cooler weather arrives today! A cold front is currently making its way through the region and it will cause afternoon high temperatures to be around 10° cooler today than they were yesterday. Have a great Friday! #azwx #cawx pic.twitter.com/lHbVnSmjRa

The Phoenix forecast calls for a high of about 70 degrees on Friday, well below Thursday’s mark of 84.
It will cool off even more over the weekend, with clear skies and highs in the mid-60s, about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year.
The highs are expected to stay in the 60s until rising into the 70s by the middle of next week.
Overnight lows, meanwhile, will be in the mid-40s for the foreseeable future.
Cold front not expected to end Phoenix dry spell
Berislavich said that while the system could produce storms east of the Valley, “rain is not looking too promising for Phoenix.”
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the NWS uses for the city’s official readings, hasn’t registered more than a trace amount of rain in nearly three months.
