PHOENIX — Celebrity chef Nik Fields’ latest foray into the restaurant world, Chic Chef 77, opens in Tempe next month.
The bistro and wine bar, located near Rural Road and Apache Boulevard, will boast a 200-bottle list and a dinner menu that will rotate monthly based on the creation of select chefs.
Chic Chef 77’s grand opening is set for Feb. 8 at 5 p.m.
After that, the wine bar will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
“This space isn’t your typical wine bar but a place to create experiences and bring to light several Black-owned wine brands that are hidden gems, overshadowed by the larger brands,” Fields said in a press release.
The space will feature live music, poetry and private wine tastings.
Wines will come from several countries, but Fields, who is African American, plans to elevate Black-owned brands.
Food selection will vary, from charcuterie boards with imported Danish cheese to fresh Norwegian salmon to farm-to-table vegetables.
Chefs who create a monthly menu will be selected based on their ingredients, the season and tools they cook with.
Fields is no stranger to the Valley. She already runs the Caribbean/Mediterranean-influenced Chic Chef Cafe in central Phoenix.
