PHOENIX — Jimmy Eat World will provide some local flavor for the official Super Bowl weekend festivities when the big game comes to town next year.
The Mesa-raised alternative rockers will take over the Verizon Stage at the Super Bowl Experience presented by Lowe’s at Hance Park in downtown Phoenix on Feb. 9, the first night of the free four-day festival.
Event organizers also announced Tuesday that award-winning country artist Lee Brice will perform on Feb. 10.
Hance Park spans across Interstate 10 between Third and Central avenues. Viewing space for the concerts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“We are thrilled to bring free concerts featuring world-class talent to locals and visitors at the opening of Super Bowl festivities,” Jay Parry, the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee’s president and CEO, said in a press release.
“Jimmy Eat World and Lee Brice bring show-stopping performances and will create the ultimate party atmosphere in the heart of downtown Phoenix.”
The Super Bowl Experience will be open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Feb. 9-10, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Feb. 11, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 12. Show times for the concerts were not yet released.
Along with live music and entertainment, the festival will offer family-friendly games and activities along with food and drink options.
Hance Park will also host the official Super Bowl Watch Party on LED big screens. The Feb. 12 game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Arizona time.
