Gilbert ranked among top 10 safest places in US, per WalletHub

PHOENIX — Gilbert made the top 10 on a list of safest places in the nation, according to a personal finance website.
The East Valley town came in at No. 7 on a ranking of 182 locations.
WalletHub used a wide variety of metrics, such as COVID-19 vaccination percentage among residents, assaults per capita and road quality.
Gilbert thrived in the home and security safety category, which included COVID-19 vaccinations, thefts per capita, assaults per capita and traffic fatalities per capita.
Gilbert city also ranked No. 12 in the grouping, with Scottsdale coming in at No. 35.
In natural disaster risk, Gilbert placed No. 14, the fourth-highest-ranked Arizona municipality.
Chandler came in at No. 8, Tempe at No. 9 and Glendale at No. 13.
Mesa placed No. 18.
WalletHub considered earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes hail, floods and wildfires when ranking locations based on natural disasters.
In the financial safety group, Chandler topped Arizona at No. 38 nationally with Scottsdale close behind at No. 41.
The category accounted for employment rate, job growth and median credit score among various metrics.
Columbia, Md., was ranked the No. 1 overall safest place in the country, while St. Louis, Mo., finished last on the list.
