PHOENIX — An Arizona man was sentenced last month to over nine years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking organization, authorities said.

Luis Torres Jaramillo will serve 111 months after previously pleading guilty for transporting heroin for sale, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office said in a press release.

Jaramillo was arrested last July after officers watched him conduct a drug transaction in a parking lot. He had 3.54 kilograms of heroin on him.

The investigation into Jaramillo continued and led to the discovery of 121 grams of heroin and 60 fentanyl pills.

The Salt River Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case.
