PHOENIX – Another company in the semiconductor industry is making a splash in metro Phoenix.
Edwards announced plans Thursday for a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility near Germann and Cooper roads in Chandler. The global company supplies semiconductor producers with vacuum and abatement services and solutions.
Construction is underway on the new campus, which will include warehouse facilities, factory areas, meeting rooms and a training center, according to a press release. It’s expected to create about 200 jobs.
“This announcement furthers Arizona’s reputation as an unrivaled manufacturing destination and strengthens the state’s growing semiconductor supply chain,” Gov. Doug Ducey said in the release.
The Valley’s semiconductor industry has been booming, spurred by multibillion dollar investments for fabrication facilities by Intel in Chandler and the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company in Phoenix.
“Unprecedented growth in the semiconductor market to meet the world’s growing consumer demand has resulted in extraordinary growth in demand for Edwards’ products and services,” said Troy Metcalf, president of Edwards’ semiconductor service division.
“Looking ahead, this growth is set to continue, with our customers in the USA investing billions of dollars in additional manufacturing capacity.”
Edwards is part of the Sweden-based Atlas Copco Group and has about 7,000 employees in Europe, Asia and North America.
“At Edwards, we have a long tradition of supporting our customers with local service and manufacturing capabilities, and our investment in the Chandler facility continues that tradition,” Metcalf said.
