1 dead after wrong-way driver crashes on Loop 202 westbound freeway on Thursday

PHOENIX — A person has died after a wrong-way driver struck another vehicle head-on Thursday morning in the East Valley, authorities said.
The westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway was closed for several hours on Thanksgiving as authorities responded to the collision.
The wrong-way driver, who has yet to be identified, struck a DPS unit and another vehicle which caused no injuries, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said in an email.
It then continued to drive and struck another vehicle head-on which led to one death, authorities said.
The deceased person has yet to be identified.
The freeway closed around 11:20 a.m. and opened around 3 p.m.
