PHOENIX — Two teens died Saturday evening following a three-car collision in Glendale, authorities said.
Joseph Saiz, 19, was driving eastbound on Bell Road in a Ford Mustang at about 8:30 p.m. when a Honda Civic traveling westbound made a left turn at Grandview Road and hit the back of Saiz’s car, according to the Glendale Police Department.
The collision caused Saiz’s car to hit the median and two trees before crashing into a Lexus in the westbound lanes, police said.
Saiz was driving at a high rate of speed without headlights on when the initial collision occurred, police said. He also wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, according to police.
Saiz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger in Saiz’s car, 18-year-old Elana Crawford, was taken to a hospital where she later died.
The driver of the Lexus was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
