PHOENIX – A Phoenix suburb is preparing a xeriscape garden for use as a community expanse and learning center.
The West Valley city of Surprise said in a press release the space at City Hall near Litchfield and Bell roads is expected to be ready by the end of January.
The demonstration garden will include an amphitheater and will be available as a site to host functions.
The garden “will provide the opportunity for our Water Resource Management Department to demonstrate appropriate landscape maintenance and watering practices,” to residents and homeowners associations, a Surprise spokeswoman said.
The Arizona Department of Forestry, the Arizona Department of Water Resources and the U.S. Forest Service contributed to the funding of the project,
During construction, the entrance to West Valley Arts HQ Gallery off Paradise Lane will be blocked. Visitors can use Civic Center Plaza as an alternate entryway.
