PHOENIX – A Phoenix man is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing his wife and infant daughter Monday night, authorities said.
Officers responded to a domestic violence call at an apartment complex near 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road just before 9 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
They learned that the suspect, 34-year-old Louis Mouton III, came to speak with his estranged wife, 32-year-old Lanae Mouton, about their relationship, police said.
“At some point, the female went back into the residence, and the male kicked in the door and fired several shots,” Sgt. Vincent Cole said during a Tuesday morning press conference.
“Inside the residence was the female and their 11-month-old child. Both were struck.”
The victims were pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, Cole said.
Louis Mouton III, who was on the scene when officers arrived, was arrested and booked into jail, police said.
No other information was immediately available.
