PHOENIX – Based on audience feedback, Phoenix Theatre Company said Monday it is designating select performances for enhanced COVID-19 mitigation protocols.
Patrons attending at the following eight showtimes will be required to show proof of full vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test and wear face masks inside the facility at Central Avenue and McDowell Road:
- “Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot”: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. The Broadway classic runs through Oct. 24 in the Mainstage Theatre.
- “The Rocky Horror Show”: 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Oct 23; 8 p.m. on Nov. 12; 3 p.m. on Nov. 14. The cult favorite runs Oct. 6-Dec. 5 in the Hormel Theatre.
- “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas”: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 18. The rocking holiday special runs Nov. 17-Jan. 2 in the Mainstage Theatre.
To qualify as full vaccination, the dose series must be completed at least 14 days before the show date.
Kids 12 and under and people who aren’t vaccinated who want to attend those performances have to provide proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the showtime or an antigen test within six hours.
The state’s oldest theater said it will continue evaluating the need to require the enhanced protocols for additional shows while offering flexible cancellation and exchange policies.
The theater encourages mask wearing for patrons at all shows, mandates it for staff at all times and requires temperature checks for anybody entering the building.
After going dark for the first time in its 100-year history because of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, The Phoenix Theatre Company returned in November with outdoor shows. Indoor productions resumed in June of this year.
