Arizona man charged with transporting minor for sexual activity

An Arizona man has been charged with transporting a minor across the country for the purposes of criminal sexual activity, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona announced.

A federal grand jury in Phoenix indicted Brian Griffeth, 48, on Tuesday.

Prosecutors allege that between December 2023 and July 2026, Griffeth transported a minor between Arizona and Florida with the intent that the minor engage in criminal sexual activity, including the production of child sexual abuse images.

The FBI opened an investigation into Griffeth, a Tonto Basin resident, in November 2025. Investigators allege Griffeth committed sexual acts with the minor beginning when the victim was 13 and that the abuse continued until the minor was 16, with Griffeth sometimes recording the interactions.

During that time, Griffeth moved with his family and the minor to Florida, prosecutors said.

If convicted, Griffeth faces a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.
