PHOENIX — One person died and three others were injured Sunday in an eight-vehicle collision in Phoenix triggered by a red-light runner, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department said Monday that Jesus Padilla, 35, was pronounced dead at a hospital following the 5:50 p.m. crash at the intersection of Central Avenue and Camelback Road.

Two women and another man were taken to the hospital in critical condition, Phoenix Fire Department said.

Police said one of the women, who was driving a tan Toyota Camry, ran a red light. They also said she showed signs of impairment.

One person required extrication from their vehicle.

Authorities said the investigation would keep the intersection closed for some time.

No additional information was made available.
