PHOENIX — Glendale police arrested a 32-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed another man following an argument in a parking lot on Saturday, authorities said.
Sammy Mendoza was charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of prohibitor possessor in the death of 30-year-old Baseme Mirindi John, the Glendale Police Department said in a press release on Tuesday.
Officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot near 59th and Northern avenues and found Mirindi John inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Police learned Mendoza and Mirindi John exchanged words after Mirindi John backed into Mendoza’s vehicle.
Police said Mirindi John pulled his vehicle forward and then reversed and once again backed into Mendoza’s vehicle.
Mendoza got out of his car again and shot Mirindi John before leaving the scene, police said.
Police said they tracked down Mendoza through surveillance footage which showed his car’s license plate as it left the scene.
