PHOENIX — A closure on a portion of Loop 101 in north Phoenix is the only freeway closure for a majority of the weekend for Valley drivers, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between Seventh Street and Cave Creek Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

Both I-17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 and the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 27th, 19th and Seventh avenues will be closed.

The nearby westbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway primary ramp to southbound State Route 51 and the westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Tatum Boulevard will also be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The westbound Loop 101 HOV lane ramp to southbound SR 51 will remain open, while westbound Loop 101 will be narrowed to two lanes with the right two lanes closed between Tatum Boulevard and SR 51.

Rolling closures in both directions will occur on Interstate 10 in the far west Valley between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday between Miller and Watson roads in Buckeye for Cox Communications overhead utility line work.

In the southeast Valley, the westbound Interstate 10 HOV lane will be closed between Baseline and Broadway roads near the Broadway Curve from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday for pre-construction survey work. The westbound US 60 HOV-lane ramp to westbound I-10 will also be closed.
