PHOENIX — Peoria officials are hosting a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event for Pop-Up Peoria this Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Peoria Chamber of Commerce.

Pop-Up Peoria is a public-private collaboration between the city and Park West that will allow retail space in the shopping mall to be used for community programs and activity, according to a press release.

The city developed the concept in partnership with Park West, CIRE Equity, Peoria Forward and The Grand Project Shoppe.

The front of the store will have retail space for a collection of featured Peoria artisans, provided by The Grand Project Shoppe, while the back portion will be programmed community space.

In that space, Arizona State University’s J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute will host entrepreneurship classes, business pitching practices and co-working opportunities.

The city will also offer sustainability classes, library story times, code compliance workshops and neighborhood watch meetings.

Pop-Up Peoria will be in the Park West shopping center, next to Bath and Body Works.

More information about the Pop-Up Peoria schedule and offerings can be found online.

We want to hear from you.
