PHOENIX — Authorities located the wreckage of a missing plane with two deceased occupants near Flagstaff early Monday.
The small aircraft was reported as overdue around 6 p.m. Sunday, according to a Coconino County Sheriff’s Office press release.
A family member in California made the report after the occupants — Michael Gill, 37, and Joylani Roseann Kamalu, 38, of Vista, California — didn’t report for work as expected, according to the release.
They were reportedly heading to the Grand Canyon Airport from the Sedona Airport for a 9 a.m. appointment in the Tusayan area.
An Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue helicopter out of Kingman found the wrecked plane in a wooded area near the H.A. Clark Memorial Field airport in Williams at around 1:40 a.m. Monday.
No other information about the crash was made available.
The National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Coconino County sheriff’s and medical examiner’s offices are investigating the incident.
