PHOENIX — Phoenix police shot and killed 29-year-old Anthony Greco after he allegedly broke into a home and raised a gun at officers on Saturday morning, according to authorities.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. near the area of 43rd Avenue and Cactus Road in Phoenix.

Police received a call from a woman who said a man broke into her backyard with a gun.

Greco entered the home during the 9-1-1 call, according to police. The woman was extracted out of a window when police arrived.

Police found Greco with the gun and demanded he drop the weapon, according to authorities.

Greco refused and raised the gun at officers, causing an officer to shoot him. Greco was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no injuries to officers or the woman in the home, according to authorities.

Police say there is no indication Greco knew the woman.

The officer who shot Greco had a body camera that was on and recording, according to authorities.

It was the fourth shooting of the year involving Phoenix police, and eighth overall by Valley law enforcement, according to KTAR News 92.3 FM research.

The investigation is ongoing.
