PHOENIX — An Arizona man faces 10 years in prison, lifetime probation and sex offender terms after pleading guilty to sex trafficking three women, including one minor, according to Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich.

Louis Broadway-Phillips, 27, advertised on the internet, transported the women to hotel rooms and forced them to perform prostitution acts in exchange for money between September of 2017 and April of 2018, according to a press release.

While on release pending trial for sex trafficking and illegal enterprise crimes, Broadway-Phillips threatened the three women and attempted to convince them not to testify against him.

Along with contacting the women himself, Broadway-Phillips also used his friends and social media to harass and intimidate the women, according to the release.

He was sentenced by a Superior Court after pleading guilty to illegal control of an enterprise, attempt to commit sex trafficking of a minor, sex trafficking, tampering with a witness and influencing a witness.

“Justice demands that we hold traffickers accountable for their actions,” Brnovich said in the release. “Perpetrators use coercion and fear to re-victimize their vulnerable trafficking victims over and over.”

Homeland Security Investigations worked with the Mesa Police Department to investigate the case against Broadway-Phillips.

“This is just one of many cases that underscores the importance working together with our state and federal partners,” Ken Cost, Mesa police chief, said in the release.

“The relentless work by all investigators brought justice to everyone victimized. We will continue our commitment to serve and protect our community in the fight against sex trafficking.”

The Attorney General’s Office has prosecuted 261 cases connected to sex trafficking since 2015, according to the release.
