PHOENIX – A father and his teenage daughter were killed in a car-bicycle collision in Glendale on Sunday night, authorities said.
Robert Martin Strickbine was bringing his 13-year-old daughter, who was riding on the bike’s handlebars, home from a friend’s house when the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m., the Glendale Police Department said Monday.
A Dodge Dart traveling westbound on Thunderbird Road struck the bicycle while it was crossing at 52nd Avenue, police said.
The victims were thrown from the bike and died of their injuries, police said.
The unidentified female driver remained at the scene and was later taken to the hospital for unspecified medical reasons, police said.
Speed, impairment and medical issues are being investigated as potential factors, but no charges are pending, police said.
No other information was immediately available.
