PHOENIX — The Maricopa County Drug Suppression Task Force and HIDTA Enforcement Action Team detectives made two fentanyl-related arrests across the Valley this week, the MCSO said in a press release on Friday.
The first was 23-year-old Luis Hernandez, who was using social media to advertise and set up transaction locations, according to authorities.
Detectives posed as customers, set up a drug purchase and then arrested Hernandez without incident, officials said.
Authorities say the suspect was found to have 10 blue M30 fentanyl pills inside his vehicle.
The second arrest was made on Wednesday in collaboration with the Buckeye Police Department.
After witnessing the suspect, Jason Chambers, sell a customer fentanyl pills, detectives made a traffic stop in which the customer admitted to purchasing five fentanyl pills from Chambers, according to MCSO.
Detectives then followed Chambers from his residence to a grocery store, where it was suspected he was planning to make another sale, but he was arrested before the deal went through.
MCSO says that Chambers was found to be in possession of over 70 M30 fentanyl pills.
Following his arrest, a search warrant was executed at Chambers’ home and resulted in the seizures of approximately 75 M30 fentanyl pills, 0.5 grams of methamphetamine, two tabs of LSD, drug paraphernalia, multiple cell phones and approximately $1,500 in cash, according to authorities.
