PHOENIX — Arizona’s first shipping container employee housing units have been installed at Castle Hot Springs Resort in Morristown.
A kitchenette, sleeping area and bathroom are included in the homes that provide onsite accommodations for employees with work visas that might have difficulty finding residence.
The custom-built units were designed and manufactured by Adaptive Shelters, a California-based company that specializes in modular buildings and container homes.
Adaptive Shelters says the shipping container housing are beneficial for remote areas with limited supplies and labor.
“With more than 40,000 people on the public housing waitlist in Phoenix, employers are now looking at employee housing as an option to meet their needs,” Dave Arfin, Adaptive Shelters co-founder, said in a press release.
The units also have a shortened development cycle compared to traditional site-built construction and can serve many uses beyond employee housing, including multi-family developments, homeless shelters and retail sites.
