PHOENIX – Janet — make that Miss Jackson — will bring her new high-energy tour to the Phoenix area in the summer, the singer announced this week.

Jackson’s Black Diamond World Tour will hit Gila River Arena in Glendale on Aug. 9. Presales began online Wednesday at noon, ticket promoter Live Nation said.

Sales to the general public begin Thursday at noon.

There will even be a special performance of “Rhythm Nation,” one of Jackson’s best-selling albums. “Rhythm Nation 1814” was released last year to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Jackson was last in the Valley in 2017.

The tour opens June 24, in Miami, Florida and closes Aug. 23 in Tacoma, Washington.

Showtime in the Valley was set for 8 p.m.

Jackson gained fame as a solo artist in the 1980s at a time when her more famous siblings, the Jackson 5, had been Motown Records’ moneymakers since 1969.

She racked up hits including “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “Escapade,” “Rhythm Nation” and “That’s the Way Love Goes.”

She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.
