PHOENIX — A 6-year-old boy was killed Monday after being hit by a semi-truck, the Mesa Police Department said.

The child was standing on the corner of the intersection of Power Road and Jensen Street when the semi turned onto Jensen. The back of the truck went onto the curb and hit the boy.

He was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition and later died.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Police do not believe the driver was impaired, spokesperson Det. Nik Rasheta told 92.3 KTAR News.

The boy was with his aunt, Rasheta said.

There were other people in the area when the accident happened, but nobody else was injured.

Interest rates may have peaked. Should you buy a CD, high-yield savings account, or a fixed annuity?

Interest rates are the highest they’ve been in decades, and it looks like the Fed has paused hikes. This may be the best time to lock in rates for long-term, low-risk financial products like fixed annuities.
