Child dies after getting hit by school bus in Goodyear
PHOENIX – A 13-year-old boy in Goodyear has died after getting hit by a school bus on Friday, authorities said.
He was taken to a local trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries, according to the Goodyear Police Department.
The incident is now being investigated as a fatal collision.
The Goodyear Police Department said the accident occurred around 4 p.m. outside Western Sky Middle School near 144th Avenue and Indian School Road. The boy was a student at the school.
The bus had students inside when the boy was hit, police said.
The driver remained on the scene. Police said impairment is not a factor.
Traffic in the area was restricted while the police investigation was ongoing.
No other information was immediately available.
Earlier Friday, a 14-year-old pedestrian was killed after getting hit by a car near Peoria High School.
