PHOENIX – Wednesday’s opening of the long-awaited Fry’s Food Store in downtown Phoenix was just a taste of what’s to come at the Block 23 mixed-use development.
While the project’s first phase is complete, RED Development still has work to do on new apartment and office space at the complex.
“As each phase opens at Block 23, we look forward to seeing the impact this destination will have on the community as we continue to attract the best local, regional and national tenants to improve the daily lives of those who live, work and play within this vibrant city,” Mike Ebert, managing partner at RED, said this week in a press release.
The development takes up the block bordered by Washington, Jefferson, First and Second streets, just north of Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Phase two will be The Ryan apartments, the release said. Preleasing will begin next month, with the first move-ins slated for February 2020.
The studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units will range from 576 to 1,649 square feet in a building featuring a fifth-floor pool deck.
The final phase will be a nine-story office tower with retail and restaurants on the ground floor that will open later this year.
WeWork, Ernst & Young and Blanco Tacos & Tequila have already signed leases for that part of Block 23.
RED is also the developer of the CityScape complex just to the west of Block 23. CityScape recently signed three new tenants: Dog Haus Biergarten, Pigtails Cocktail Bar and Nekter Juice Bar. Opening dates for those businesses are expected to be revealed by the end of the year, the release said.
