PHOENIX – A Phoenix man accused of shooting at his ceiling to get neighbors above him to quiet down shot himself in the face instead Sunday night and was hospitalized in critical condition.
No one else in the late-night shooting at an apartment near Baseline Road and 36th Street was injured, police said.
Sgt. Vince Lewis told KTAR News 92.3 FM the man “had banged on the (neighbors’) door, yelling at them, trying to make contact during this argument” a little before midnight.
The unidentified man then went back to his apartment and reportedly fired several shots into the ceiling.
Police are still investigating how he ended up with a bullet in his face.
No other details were immediately available.
