American Airlines plane blows tires before takeoff at Phoenix Sky Harbor
PHOENIX – An American Airlines flight leaving Phoenix came to an abrupt halt shortly before takeoff Thursday morning when two tires on the plane burst on the runway.
ABC15 reported an airline representative said Las Vegas-bound Flight 711 “experienced a mechanical issue prior to takeoff.”
The plane stopped without further incident and no one was injured, the airline said.
The plane taxied to a ramp area where passengers disembarked and were bused back to Terminal 4.
Maintenance personnel were inspecting the aircraft and the airline worked to get the 161 passengers to Las Vegas as soon as possible.
An airlines spokeswoman said no operations at the airport were disrupted.
No other details were immediately available.
