Phoenix PD: 18-year-old woman dead after being hit by truck overnight

PHOENIX — An 18-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Phoenix on Saturday night.
According to a Phoenix Police Department press release, the pedestrian was struck as she crossed McDowell Road at about 41st Street around 11:10 p.m.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
She was not in a crosswalk when she was struck.
The operator of the truck, a 21-year-old male, was cited for DUI and was released.
The man said he saw the pedestrian in the roadway right before the collision but was unable to stop.
Speed does not appear to be a factor, the department said in the release.
The identities of the individuals have not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
