PHOENIX — A Bullhead City man was arrested Sunday for allegedly stabbing his mother to death.

Travers Proulx, 43, allegedly got into an argument with Bette Vaughn, 74, before stabbing her and threatening to kill his brother and stepfather before fleeing.

Police said they responded to the home around 4:15 a.m., and Vaughn was pronounced dead on scene.

Police searched the area for Proulx, found him at a residence down the road and took him into custody.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit found the knife Proulx allegedly used in the yard of a neighbor’s house.

He was booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman.
