Pedestrian left in critical condition after hit-and-run in west Phoenix

A woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run in west Phoenix early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Officers were called to the area of 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road around 2 a.m. for reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Investigators said an adult woman was struck by an SUV as she was crossing the street, adding that the driver did not stay at the scene.

The Phoenix Fire Department took the woman to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
