PHOENIX — American Airlines is launching a second daily flight from Phoenix to Hermosillo, Mexico, this winter.

The airline will begin service of the flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor on Dec. 18, according to a press release.

The flight will be operated by SkyWest and be served by a Bombardier CRJ-700 jet that holds 70 passengers.

Last month, American announced four seasonal routes from Phoenix scheduled to launch the same date as the Hermosillo flight.

The seasonal flights will be to Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Fargo, North Dakota; and Cincinnati, Ohio.

The airline also will debut a flight from Phoenix to Chihuahua, Mexico, on the same date.

American also recently announced four other new routes from Phoenix slated to start later this year to Rapid City, South Dakota; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Wichita, Kansas; and New Orleans.

American offers 86 destinations to fly to out of Sky Harbor.
