PHOENIX — Meghan McCain, the daughter of U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), said Thursday that her father has made an incredible recovery in his battle with brain cancer.

“He had a sort of rough time at Christmas and he’s made this really crazy, amazing recovery, which I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at because he is so resilient in so many different ways,” Meghan McCain told “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” (WARNING: LINK CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE)

“He’s tough. He’s a tough [expletive].”

Meghan McCain said her father has been undergoing physical therapy at the family’s ranch in Sedona.

“He’s doing physical therapy and has amazing doctors and he’s doing really well,” she said.

John McCain has not returned to the nation’s capital since the holiday break. His daughter said she hopes he can return soon to spar with President Donald Trump.

“It’s nice that he’s doing well and I hope he comes back to Washington very soon because I would like to see him go up against Trump a little more,” she said.

The senator has been one of Trump’s most vocal opponents within the Republican Party.

The feud between the two men began when Trump insulted McCain’s war history three years ago during the presidential campaign.

The pair have had public spats over a border wall and the manner in which the North Korea situation has been handled, among other topics.

Despite their battles, Trump called John McCain’s wife, Cindy, just before the holidays to wish the family well.
