PHOENIX — “Captain America” star Chris Evans cancelled his appearance at ACE Comic Con in Glendale on Sunday due to an illness.
According to Ryan Woodcock, a spokesman with ACE Comic Con Arizona, Evans was forced to cancel his appearance after coming down with an illness, despite the fact that he attended the convention on Saturday.
Event officials sent an email to attendees on Sunday, saying that fans who purchased a photo opportunity or a signature from the on-screen superhero could receive a partial refund.
For example, fans who purchased a photo op with just Evans could instead get one with “Spider-Man” star Tom Holland, who was also headlining the three-day event. But fans who purchased an autograph from Evans could get a signed lithograph as a replacement.
ACE Comic Con, which was held at Gila River Arena in Glendale, was an opportunity for fans and superheroes to gather and build memories outside of the big screen.
But Evans and Holland were not the only actors at this star-studded event: Other superheroes who attended the convention included Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (The Falcon), and Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter).
However, Evans had a busy Saturday: He took part in a panel with Stan and Mackie, where they talked about what it is like to be a superhero and posed for some silly photos with fans.
Yesterday at the ACE Comic-Con, MCU stars @ChrisEvans, Sebastian Stan, and @AnthonyMackie took any reasonable requests from fans wanting a photo.
