PHOENIX — The results are in and Sedona has made a popular luxury travel magazine’s list of America’s favorite small towns as determined by readers.
The list from Conde Nast Traveler said the northern Arizona town — located less than a two-hour drive from Phoenix — is the place to be both day and night.
Stunning Sedona is a must for the traveler seeking photos-won’t-do-it-justice wilderness. By day, explore its distinct red-rock monoliths, pine forests, and canyons for extraordinary views, or head into town to check out the art galleries. On clear nights, take in the sky’s mind-boggling stretch of stars and stay in adobe cottages at the Enchantment Resort, a former private ranch turned luxury resort and spa.
Other cities on the list included Aspen, Colorado; Greenville, South Carolina; Santa Fe, New Mexico and Laguna Beach, California.
Charleston, South Carolina was readers’ favorite city this year.
The Conde Nast list was the latest in a slew of recognitions for the town.
Among them was Thrillist naming Sedona the best small town in Arizona earlier this year.
That website praised the town’s combination of both the outdoors and luxury spas, while noting that the “very-hip nightlife” of Flagstaff is less than an hour’s drive.
Last year, Sedona was named to Travel and Leisure’s list of America’s favorite towns.
